Akyuna Soberk is a visual artist who explores the metaphysical essence of the human being and the surrounding reality through a dialogue with external reflections and the nature of events. Drawing upon her hypersensitivity, she forges connections between reality and the spiritual realm. For her, the camera serves as the most intimate means of understanding and seeking the true essence of things. She frequently employs digital and manual image manipulation techniques to reveal the unseen layers of existence.
A central theme of her work is the alchemy of suffering—the transformation of emotional pain into healing. The artist’s metaphysical visual language took root in her childhood; amidst a chaotic world of poverty and an early encounter with death, imagination and music became her primary sources of solace and support.
Primary media: photography—including analog, Polaroid, and experiments with instant film and the artist's book.
